9-time WWE champion could make blockbuster return and help Cody Rhodes defeat Solo Sikoa, says analyst, in a major angle at SummerSlam 2024
A backstage WWE personality has discussed the possibility of an absent star making a shocking return at SummerSlam 2024 to help Cody Rhodes defeat Solo Sikoa. Sam Roberts believes there's a chance Roman Reigns will finally return to the promotion and help The American Nightmare retain the Undisputed WWE Title.
Reigns has been away since WrestleMania 40, where Cody finally ended The Tribal Chief's historic title reign. Amid his absence, The Bloodline has witnessed a drastic transformation, with Solo Sikoa emerging as its leader and anointing himself as the new Tribal Chief. Sikoa is now gearing up to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam, with his Bloodline cohorts on his side.
On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Sam Roberts spoke about how things could go down during Solo Sikoa and Cody's showdown at The Biggest Party of The Summer. Roberts believes there is a possibility that nine-time WWE champion Roman Reigns will make his stunning return to WWE and help Cody Rhodes retain his gold. For those unaware, The Big Dog is a four-time WWE Champion and a two-time Universal Champion. He is also a one-time IC Champion, US Champion, and Tag Team Champion.
While Roberts made it clear he would prefer The American Nightmare to finish the job on his own, the 40-year-old was not against the idea of Reigns helping Cody out.
"If you put it like that, it does feel like, especially if they say if you've got no one left, Roman could help Cody, and that would be good. I still prefer Cody doing it on his own and Roman coming at the end, but it's not a bad thought. It's a good thought," Sam Roberts said. (1:42:08-1:42:28)

Scott Steiner comments on how long Cody Rhodes could remain a champion in WWE
In a recent chat with Sportskeeda Wrestling's Bill Apter, Scott Steiner gave his thoughts about Cody's run as the Undisputed WWE Champion. The veteran claimed that the higher-ups in WWE and TKO had no reason to take the title off The American Nightmare until the 39-year-old stopped drawing money for the company.
"It all depends. If they [WWE] stop drawing, no. Especially now, they're actually owned by TKO; the money is gonna be the bottom line, so as long as that keeps going, it could go as long as [they want]. Believe it or not, people don't wanna see the guy win every time. I don't care who you are. You gotta have some losses in there. But, yeah, as long as the money keeps on flowing, and he [Cody Rhodes] has good opponents," he said.
Cody has been highly successful as the face of WWE, with the promotion performing well in all possible metrics, including ratings, live gate, and merchandise sales. It will be interesting to see how The American Nightmare fares at SummerSlam 2024.
