A McMahon buying share of AEW and getting decision-making stake is a possible scenario, says ex-WWE host

After Vince McMahon's WWE departure earlier this year, none of his family members, except his son-in-law Triple H, hold any power in the promotion currently. A former WWE host now thinks a member of the McMahon family could buy a share of AEW as part of a storyline on Tony Khan's promotion.

The McMahon in question is Shane. Vince McMahon's son last appeared in the Stamford-based company at WrestleMania 39 when he suffered a serious injury during a match against The Miz. Meanwhile, he reportedly reached out to an AEW talent to "hypothetically" discuss the idea of him appearing in Tony Khan's promotion. While discussing the subject on his The Wrestling Matt podcast, former WWE host Matt Camp suggested a scenario in which McMahon could debut on AEW TV as a decision-making figure.

The former RAW Talk host claimed The Young Bucks could sell Shane what they would claim is their share in the promotion as part of an angle, giving Shane O'Mac a decision-making stake in Tony Khan's company:

"I would rather Shane leading a group where he doesn't, it's a power struggle more. You know, is there something to the effect of, 'Well, The Bucks own this percentage of the company,' you can make that up, 'they've sold it all over to Shane.' So, he has this kinda decision-making stake in the company," he said. [From 02:20 to 02:39]

Would the ex-WWE Chairman's son succeed in AEW?

On his Grilling JR podcast, wrestling legend Jim Ross discussed Shane McMahon's potential move to AEW. The 72-year-old claimed it would be "so crazy" that it might work.

Meanwhile, the current AEW color commentator pointed out that Shane's success in Tony Khan's promotion would depend on what Shane O'Mac wants to do:

"Yeah, it would. It's so crazy that it might work, depending on how it was positioned and how it was introduced. Shane called me the other day, he's called me two or three times, which I really appreciate. He's always been sensitive in that respect. That's only a question that Shane could answer. Shane and Tony Khan being together, how would that work creatively, heck, who knows? Might be great. But in any event, that all depends on Shane and what he wants to do," he said.

Former WWE Superstar Matt Morgan has mocked the idea of Shane McMahon joining AEW. It would be interesting to see if the potential move would really happen.
