"A recipe for disaster" – Former WWE star analyzes infamous Goldberg botch
One of the most memorable matches of Goldberg's career took place at WWE Super ShowDown 2019 against The Undertaker. In a recent YouTube video, former WWE star Stevie Richards broke down what went wrong in the infamous bout.
Moments before his entrance, Goldberg accidentally cut himself open after headbutting a door backstage. Once he got to the ring, the WCW icon looked dazed and unable to perform moves to his usual standard.
On his Stevie Richards Wrestling Analysis channel, Richards recalled how his former WWE opponent often headbutted things before matches:
"Before Goldberg enters the arena, he's already concussed. He's already got a little cut right there on his head. I've witnessed it first-hand: Goldberg headbutting walls, headbutting doors, headbutting soda machines to psych himself up before each and every match. By this point, at 52 years old, how many times, how many concussions has Goldberg suffered? My guess is he's already concussed before he even leaves the locker room, and it's already a recipe for disaster." [0:54 – 1:30]
The Undertaker defeated Goldberg in a match lasting eight minutes and 35 seconds. The contest featured several mistakes, including a spot where The Deadman landed awkwardly on his neck after receiving an uncoordinated Jackhammer.

In the early stages of the match, Goldberg launched himself head-first into the ring post while attempting a spear.
Stevie Richards believes that moment likely made the Hall of Famer's concussion even worse as the match went on:
"If he wasn't concussed from the headbutt or whatever he did in the locker room, he's fully concussed [after the ring post collision], and you'll see in a second, he is gushing blood. It is just unfortunate. A series of unfortunate events when it comes to this match." [2:10 – 2:24]
In 2021, Goldberg admitted on The Pat McAfee Show that he should not have headbutted a door backstage. The wrestling legend said he had "no idea what's going on" after that incident.
