Absent star sends one-word message ahead of potential WWE return
A top superstar absent on WWE television since August recently teased a potential return on social media.
Karrion Kross last appeared on the August 11 episode of SmackDown in Calgary, Canada. Kross lost to AJ Styles clean to end their months-long feud. He has not returned to TV since that defeat but wrestled a dark match and a couple of live events last month.
The Herald of Doomsday lost to Drew McIntyre in a dark match on the September 1 edition of SmackDown. He also lost to Ricochet twice in New York and Virginia live events.
In a post on his Instagram account, Kross teased his potential return with a one-word message. He has been sending cryptic messages on social media that many interpret as a return to television.
"Soon," Kross wrote.
Karrion Kross' second stint with WWE has been a mixed bag. He started with a bang when he attacked Drew McIntyre during his feud with Roman Reigns. Nevertheless, his return could impact SmackDown, especially if he goes up against another top babyface.
Karrion Kross on why he's currently lost in the WWE shuffle
In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Karrion Kross discussed being lost in the shuffle during his second stint with WWE.
Kross explained that the abundance of heel champions meant other bad guys had to put over babyfaces.
"I landed into a very interesting time in the programming," Kross said. "So if you notice, we've got three very strong heels with three titles for quite a while: [Austin] Theory, Gunther, Roman [Reigns]. These guys all had very long title runs. Functionally, from a programming standpoint, these are the top dogs, right? Babyfaces gotta go up to the PLEs to fight the heels." [H/T Cageside Seats]
Kross also talked about secretly working with Bray Wyatt regarding a potential match at WrestleMania 39 and teased facing John Cena, who will likely remain in WWE as long as the SAG-AFTRA strike is not resolved.
