Absent WWE Superstar reveals how he landed TV role
An absent WWE Superstar has revealed how he was featured in a popular television series.
It is a difficult job to be a WWE Superstar, and not every talented person is afforded television time every week. The most popular stars are typically guaranteed to be featured on television regularly, while the rest have to capture the attention of the WWE Universe by other means to remain relevant.
Dexter Lumis was released in April 2022 but was brought back to the company a few months later. His bizarre character caught everyone's attention, and he had an entertaining rivalry with The Miz. Bronson Reed returned in December 2022 to help The A-Lister defeat Lumis in a Ladder match. Dexter Lumis' popularity then began to fade, and the star hasn't competed in a match since defeating Akira Tozawa on Main Event last May.
The 39-year-old made a cameo appearance on the Tacoma FD television series on Tru TV. He spoke with the stars of the show, Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme, on the most recent edition of their Talkoma FD podcast and revealed how his appearance on the show came to be:
"It was funny, because it is actually an agent out in LA, he's been in the wrestling business side of things. Just randomly, out of the blue, I just get a call and it is him. He's like 'Hey man, do you want to be on a TV show?'. And I was like, 'What TV show?'. And he said Tacoma FD, they want to do a do a doppelganger type episode. I was like 'Oh my God, it is exactly what I envisioned'. It's happening," he said.
Former WWE writer criticizes rivalry between The Miz and Dexter Lumis
Wrestling veteran Vince Russo did not enjoy the rivalry between The Miz and Dexter Lumis on WWE television in 2022.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW show, Vince Russo claimed that the promotion never had a plan for the rivalry, and it went completely off the rails. He added that the storyline was an "abomination" since the beginning:
"There's no way they went into this angle with a plan. They did this angle and then this angle went totally off the rails and now, we literally gotta try to make sense out of what we've done. This was an abomination from week one," said Russo.
Dexter Lumis has not competed in RAW since the #1 Contendership Battle Royal won by former WWE Superstar Mustafa Ali on May 15, 2023. It will be interesting to see if the veteran makes his return to the promotion this year.
