Accusations of predictability aimed at Triple H following "easy" WWE SummerSlam show
This year's WWE SummerSlam in Cleveland was one of the most successful shows for the Triple H-led promotion. The Biggest Party of the Summer showcased some of the best talents on the roster.
Fans finally witnessed CM Punk's first televised singles match since his return to World Wrestling Entertainment in 2023. On the other hand, the show saw several title changes as Gunther became the new World Heavyweight Champion, Nia Jax won the Women's Championship, and Bron Breakker was crowned the Intercontinental Champion.
SummerSlam 2024 also had some heartbreaking moments for The Judgment Day as Dominik Mysterio turned on Rhea Ripley and Finn Balor betrayed Damian Priest. Nonetheless, fans enjoyed the show, with many claiming that it was on par with WrestleMania XL.
However, veteran journalist Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio did not feel the above-mentioned show was all hunky-dory. Meltzer felt that this year's WWE SummerSlam showcased several storylines but lacked the amount of action inside the squared circle.
The wrestling journalist also mentioned that he felt the storylines were predictable, as everyone could pretty much call what was going to happen on television, but he still enjoyed the overall show.
"It was an angle show. If you were watching the show to see great wrestling, it wasn't that. If you were watching to see angles that were predictable - which there's nothing wrong with, I'm in favor of predictable booking. When people say 'it was predictable', I usually say 'it must mean it makes sense' - that's what this was. You pretty much could call everything that happened and they did it well. In that sense, I thought it was an easy show to watch for a four-hour show, it never lagged, [and] it didn't drag... I enjoyed it," Meltzer said.

Triple H talked about WWE legend John Cena's return after SummerSlam
During the SummerSlam post-show press conference, Sportskeeda Wrestling's Senior Editor Bill Apter asked Triple H about John Cena's retirement tour. The Game mentioned that Cena would return soon and WWE Royal Rumble 2025 would likely be the 16-time World Champion's last Rumble Match.
"He's going to come back soon. I don't remember exactly what we said or what he said. John has earned the right in his career to do whatever he wants, when he wants and I'm happy to be there for him. I believe it is the beginning of the year, John will come back. And it's sort of like the farewell tour that has an end to it, and John is going to come back and just have a blast like he always does. He's going to come back and be there for the Royal Rumble, so that will be his last Royal Rumble."
The King of Kings also talked about John Cena's final run and how his WWE career will come to an end in 2025.
It will be interesting to see what Triple H has planned for upcoming WWE premium live events for the remainder of 2024.
