AEW star wanted Roman Reigns feud before leaving WWE

Roman Reigns became involved in WWE's top storyline in 2020 when he formed The Bloodline. AEW's Bobby Lashley, formerly a member of The Hurt Business in the Stamford-based promotion, would like to have seen his faction battle it out with Reigns' group.

Lashley joined forces with Cedric Alexander, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin on RAW in 2020. The group separated in 2021 after The All Mighty turned his attention to the WWE Championship. They later reunited before splitting up again in 2022.

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Lashley said he wishes fans could have witnessed The Bloodline vs. The Hurt Business:

"When The Bloodline was just getting going, I think it could have been a really cool little synergy between the two there. I mean, we were matching up at every level. Me and Roman, and then The Usos and then you had Shelton and Cedric. It just could have been a fun feud. And then you had Paul Heyman and MVP, we can all sit back for a second, let them go at it for a while, see what happens. It would have been fun." [1:17:06 – 1:17:29]

Lashley and Reigns previously feuded as singles competitors in 2018. They also faced each other in a triple-threat match with Big E in 2021 after The Bloodline and The Hurt Business formed. However, the contest did not lead to a rivalry between the two stables.

Bobby Lashley explains why WWE fans liked The Hurt Business

Although The Hurt Business mostly performed as heels, the faction proved popular with many fans. Bobby Lashley, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin recently reformed the group, now known as The Hurt Syndicate, in AEW.

Lashley thinks The Hurt Business resonated with WWE fans because of their authentic presentation:

"We all believed in each other, so we worked as a group, and I think that group was so real that that's why people were like, 'Man, I really like this,' and it's very rare that you see that in a group. You see a lot of guys coming down the ramp together and they're all together, and you're like, 'I don't even think those guys hang out with each other.'" [1:16:12 – 1:16:29]

In the same interview, Lashley disclosed how former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon reacted to his unpopular sisters storyline in 2018.
