AJ Lee sends message to her wrestling “sons and daughters” ahead of WWE RAW
AJ Lee has been away from WWE since 2015. Despite the lengthy absence, the former Divas Champion remains a fan favorite, with constant calls for her comeback. Lee has just sent a message to her vassals in and out of pro wrestling.
The former Divas Champion has not wrestled since March 30, 2015, when she teamed with Paige and Naomi to defeat Natalya and The Bella Twins, just one night after she and the Anti-Diva defeated The Bellas at WrestleMania 31. The former RAW General Manager has stayed away from working wrestling for the most part but did have a brief partnership with the WOW: Women of Wrestling, which ended last year.
AJ and actress Aimee Garcia are currently promoting their first independent comic and third project, Day of the Dead Girl. After a book signing this weekend, AJ took to X/Twitter to express how proud she is of her "sons and daughters" in wrestling. She recalled meeting four women at the signing who were entering mental health fields of study, which she had advocated for.
Lee said these women chose the mental health field because of her book, declaring them to be her new "STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) daughters." It wasn't clear if the 37-year-old was referring to her 2017 memoir, Crazy Is My Superpower: How I Triumphed by Breaking Bones, Breaking Hearts, and Breaking the Rules.
"forever proud of all my wrestling daughters & sons and now blown away to have met 4 women at yesterday’s signing who are entering Mental Health fields of study because of my book. STEM daughters?!Welcome to the family and thank you for making the world a better, kinder place," AJ Lee wrote.
The calls for AJ to return to WWE have picked up since her husband, CM Punk, returned one year ago. The New York Times Best-Selling author has not indicated that she wants to return, but she often interacts with WWE fans on social media.
CM Punk addresses potential WWE return for AJ Lee
AJ Lee began working towards a pro wrestling career in March 2007, when she was trained by Jay Lethal. Later that year, she began on the indie scene and signed with WWE after paying $1,500 to participate in a May 2009 tryout.
AJ has been away from WWE since early 2015, but interest in a potential return has picked up since CM Punk shockingly returned to the company in November 2023. In a recent interview with Ringside Collectibles, Punk was asked about AJ possibly returning to WWE.
"I certainly am not pushing her [AJ Lee] to do anything. I think she knows that there's options. I think she sees how happy I am and how things are different. But if the right situation presented itself, it would have to be a discussion between her and certain people, and I don’t necessarily want to be in the middle of that just because it could get kind of weird. Selfishly, yes, I would love to make out with my wife on television again," CM Punk said. [From 09:30 to 10:04]
NXT Women's Champion Roxanne Perez has said she tried getting Punk to convince Lee to return. Natalya and Liv Morgan have also called on the three-time Divas Champion to make her comeback.
