WWE News: AJ Styles doesn't want WWE to buy TNA

AJ Styles left TNA in 2013

AJ Styles has had a successful run in the WWE so far and has accomplished a lot in a very short time. With his initial home TNA in trouble and the rumours suggesting WWE might purchase it, AJ Styles finally voiced his opinion while speaking to The Phoenix New Times where he stated that:

"I don't know. I think that I would love for them to be them and us to be us”.

He also stated that he prefers competition in the wrestling world and is genuinely concerned about the jobs of his old co-workers which would be in danger once WWE buys TNA.

It has been well rumoured by now that TNA is suffering huge financial troubles and have received several lawsuits thereby elevating their issues. WWE initially were rumoured to be purchasing TNA’s video library but given the current situation, there is a huge possibility that they might go all the way.

Before coming into the WWE, AJ Styles had his most memorable moments being the face of TNA for about 10 years. Apart from AJ Styles, superstars like Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode, Eric Young have worked with TNA for a very long time and have been the greatest stars the promotion have ever produced.

Given this current situation, it is enough to make them awkward and emotional. Generally, it is good for a pro wrestling promotion to have some competition but given the current situation of TNA, it seems highly unlikely.

The best case scenario actually be WWE buying TNA out and a new promotion taking it’s place as TNA’s death seems inevitable now and it’s time to accept that fact.

AJ Styles left TNA in December 2013 when the contract negotiations between him and TNA had broken down making him a free agent as a result after spending 11 years with the company.

When he appeared on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast earlier this year he mentioned that his respect for NJPW and his desire to work there was apparently another factor which made him leave TNA, apart from that he also expressed his thoughts on leaving those promotions by saying:

“I didn’t shed one tear when I left TNA. I was very emotional when I left New Japan”

AJ Styles made his much-anticipated debut at the Royal Rumble this year and has made an instant impact with top quality matches against Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns and John Cena. He further cemented his spot as the top guy after winning the coveted WWE Championship at Backlash.
