AJ Styles' future on SmackDown officially addressed after rumors of WWE exit

There has been a lot of speculation of late about the future of AJ Styles - especially after nearly touching the nine-year mark in WWE. With a change in regime and everything, WWE has officially addressed the future of The Phenomenal One.

It was reported exclusively on Sportskeeda Wrestling via JoeyVotes of WrestleVotes that AJ Styles is planning to wind things down and that there was nothing in place for him creatively. Many compared his situation to Bobby Lashley, except he managed to get a big spot at WrestleMania 40 against LA Knight and became the Undisputed WWE Title challenger in two big premium live events.

WWE officially announced tonight that The Phenomenal AJ Styles will be back for SmackDown next week in Nashville, Tennesse.

Speculation has been rampant about his contract expiring. Considering that he hasn't seemingly been a mainstay for the new WWE regime, many fans are worried that he will quietly leave the company once his contract expires.

Styles has previously stated interest in pursuing a backstage role in WWE after retirement - presumably to coach. However, there are likely a few good jobs that would suit his abilities.

It's going to be interesting to see how things play out upon his return.
