Alpha Academy star may get renewed babyface push; wrestling legend feels WWE dropped the ball earlier (Exclusive)
The Alpha Academy has been in focus on WWE RAW for the last few weeks. The leader of the pack Chad Gable has turned heel and become a hard taskmaster for its members, Maxxine Dupri, Akira Tozawa, and Otis.
This week on RAW, Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn questioned why the Alpha Academy tolerated Gable's repeated insults. His words probably stuck a chord with the faction as they refused to interfere during Chad Gable's match against Sami. This enraged Gable and he asked Dupri and Tozawa to leave the arena.
During this week's edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, veteran journalist Bill Apter felt Otis could finally desert his master. Apter mentioned that the Academy member was a huge fan favorite and he may be turning babyface soon.
He claimed that WWE somehow couldn't get him over earlier but this was a great time for the heavyweight to emerge as a top babyface for the company.
"The fans love Otis. They loved him a long time ago when he won the Money in the Bank match. I think they should've just kept him a babyface, they loved him." Apter continued, "I think that Otis is gonna morph into a higher babyface spot. Yeah, they wanna see him. Somebody dropped the ball. They ended it quickly. There's still time to revive it." This week on WWE RAW, although Otis attacked Sami Zayn, enabling Gable to pick up the win, he seemed conflicted about his actions.
It will be interesting to see if Otis turns on his mentor and proceeds to go on a singles run.
