Ash by Elegance (Dana Brooke) speaks up about paving the path for WWE champion who had "no idea about the business"
Dana Brooke worked for a decade in WWE before moving to TNA and becoming Ash by Elegance. The former superstar spoke about how she helped a current champion get to where she is today.
Dana had a decent career in WWE where she had many ups and downs. She was moved to NXT for some time where she had a few good matches and also helped the newer WWE crop. However, the star was released last year and has since moved to TNA.
In an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Dana Brooke spoke about her experience after moving to NXT again. She talked about going back to the developmental brand and working with Zoey Stark and some other stars.
She noted that she also worked as Kelani Jordan’s mentor and helped her get to where she is today. Ash by Elegance also spoke about the similarities of their background.
"Kelani, 'cause it was truly like a mentorship. She had no idea about the business. She really had no idea about wrestling. And we came from a similar background with gymnastics, so it was like me paving the way for her and having her along my side. And then boom, I got the call [of her release]," Ash recounted. "It caught me off guard. ... Everything came so abruptly and I was like, oh my God, my world felt like it came crashing down. But I always stay positive and when one door closes, another door opens." Kelani is now the NXT Women’s North American Champion. She worked hard to become a top name on the brand, and Shawn Michaels rewarded her with a title win very early in her career.
Ash by Elegance (Dana Brooke) recently appeared in WWE NXT
Ash by Elegance found her footing and new character during her time in NXT. It helped her reinvent herself before she was released by the company in 2023.
She took the character to TNA where she further polished it and became a big name on the promotion. WWE’s latest partnership with TNA has allowed several TNA stars to appear on the promotion.
Joe Hendry is the one who’s gotten the biggest push from the partnership. Meanwhile, Ash has also emerged on NXT to further her current rivalries.
It will be interesting to see whether Ash by Elegance ever returns as Dana Brooke to WWE in the coming years.
