Bo Dallas/Uncle Howdy's former teammate teases WWE return 4 years later
Taylor Rotunda returned to WWE after a little over four years in a full-fledged on-screen capacity. He reprised the role of Uncle Howdy, something he initially portrayed alongside his late brother, Bray Wyatt (real name Windham Rotunda). In the last decade, before Taylor's association with Wyatt's character, he was known as Bo Dallas.
Perhaps this version of his was most successful when he worked with Joseph Curtis Hennig (aka Curtis Axel) as The B-Team. They also were The Miztourage before, with two-time WWE Champion The Miz as their group's leader. Axel was released in February 2020 owing to the budget cuts stemming from COVID-19, ending his 13-year tenure with World Wrestling Entertainment.
In an interview with Going Ringside, Curtis Axel revealed that he was open to returning to WWE as a backstage producer, a role he had previously fulfilled. He also noted that in the last few years, he had been able to spend some quality time with his family, and now he was gearing up for a possible in-ring return.
"I spent the last few years being a dad, just spending time with my three boys at home and my wife, which I haven't been able to do being on the road so much as I was with WWE at the time. I've been enjoying that. But I've been starting doing these things and started getting the itch again, and I've actually been training in the ring, taking a few bumps. So I'm slowly inching my way closer to make a return," Curtis Axel said.
Axel further put it out there that the backstage producer role was still on the table, should WWE be interested.
"That's something that's still on the table, I think I could go back there and do that and help out. I really like coaching the next up-and-comers. It's very rewarding to give my insight to them and have these different ideas that we can collaborate and make the match even better," he added. [From 2:42 onwards]
Together with Bo Dallas, The B-Team had held the WWE RAW Tag Team Championship once. Axel also has a history with Bray Wyatt. The former Intercontinental Champion recently stated that he wonders sometimes whether Wyatt held a grudge against him.
Uncle Howdy has been in the dark since first pinfall loss on WWE RAW
Karrion Kross and his crew, The Final Testament, were the first to humble The Wyatt Sicks, and subsequently hand them their very first defeat. Kross pinned Uncle Howdy to pick up the win for his team.
Uncle Howdy and The Wyatt Sicks have been in the shadows and have not retaliated yet, but it is hard to fathom they will just let this slide considering their reputation.
It remains to be seen what they have planned for The Doom Walker and his crew in the weeks ahead on the red brand.
