Booker T answers if he will lace up his boots to face 30-year-old star for major WWE title match

WWE legend Booker T has commented on the possibility of coming out of retirement for one last match against a 30-year-old star. The wrestling world is buzzing after Trick Williams laid down a challenge to defend his NXT Championship against the Hall of Famer in a dream match.

The five-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion's last in-ring appearance was at the 2023 Royal Rumble. But that was just a one-off surprise return for the multi-man contest.

In a recent interview, Whoop That Trick asked the 59-year-old WWE legend to dust off his wrestling gear and step back into the ring for one final showdown, with his NXT Title on the line. Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T responded to coming out of the commentary booth to return to the squared circle for one last title match:

"I’m not gonna exploit my opponent’s inexperience in this situation... No, man I'm done. I wouldn't want to [wrestle Williams]. You know what, Trick is me. Right now he's in his prime man he's getting ready to blow it up, he is getting ready to take over the world. I want to see that kid take over the world. I don’t want to be in there trying to mix it up with this kid or anything like that. I mean, he is the future of this business. I want to be able to step aside and be that dude in the passenger seat navigating this kid’s career to that next level," he said. [From 07:18 to 08:00]

WWE star Trick Williams opened up about his relationship with Booker T

The current NXT Champion recently stated that Booker T was one of his favorite performers while growing up. The WWE Hall of Famer is known to hype Trick Williams during his entrances.

During an appearance on The Ringer Wrestling Show, the 30-year-old star mentioned that Booker T drops a lot of knowledge and wisdom on him. Whoop That Trick credited the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion for being helpful in his wrestling journey.

"Man, the cool thing about it is like everything you see on TV, that is our true relationship. Like I really pull up to him most Tuesdays and I just listen to him, let him talk, drop knowledge, like you talking to your uncle on the porch. He just give you stories, he give you wisdom," said Trick.

As of now, Trick Williams is set to defend his NXT Championship at Battleground Premium Live Event. On June 9 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, the 30-year-old WWE star will go one-on-one against the former AEW star Ethan Page for the title.
