Booker T believes 405 lb WWE star is the perfect replacement for legendary former champion who may never return

Booker T chimed in on a WWE Superstar's amazing debut on RAW last Monday. The two-time WWE Hall of Famer believes that Odyssey Jones is a perfect replacement for Big E in The New Day.

After more than a year since being called up to the main roster, Jones finally made his debut in Baltimore when he helped Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods against The Final Testament. He took out Karrion Kross and delivered an impressive double sideslam to the Authors of Pain.

On the latest episode of the Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T was asked about the prospect of Jones becoming the newest member of The New Day. The current NXT commentator can see it happening, especially if Big E doesn't get cleared to return.

"Odyssey impressed the hell out of me, man. Especially with that double sideslam on AOP. That impressed the hell out of me. Just his energy impressed the hell out of me. Of course, his size is one thing, he's a throwback. Does he fit in with The New Day? I think so. I think he fits very well. I think he'll be a great addition since Big E hasn't been able to come back. We don't know when Big E is gonna come back," Booker said. [19:19 - 19:55]

Big E has not wrestled since breaking his neck on the March 11, 2022 episode of WWE SmackDown. He has hinted about the possibility of retirement but also hasn't ruled out a return to the ring.

Big E gives an update on potential WWE return

In a post back in mid-April on X, fka Twitter, Big E gave an update on his recovery from a broken neck. There have not been any changes in his C1 vertebra and he has not been cleared to return. He's not feeling any pain and is happy living his life.

"Two year neck scans are in. Things are unchanged. My C1 has healed fibrously but has not formed new bone. I’m not medically cleared and truthfully, I may never be cleared. But I am blessed to be free of pain, immensely happy and otherwise healthy. Life is good," Big E tweeted.

Despite not wrestling in the ring, Big E continues to work for WWE in a non-wrestling capacity. He's done a lot of PR work for the company but has been mainly on the pre-show and post-show panels for premium live events.
