Booker T says 2-time champion should "move on" from wrestling after WWE release
Booker T recently opened up about what could lie ahead for a popular WWE name who was shown the door from the company a few days back. The WCW legend discussed Baron Corbin's future prospects on his popular podcast, Hall of Fame.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that a host of names would be departing the WWE immediately. The most shocking performer on the list was Baron Corbin as he had been with the Stamford-based promotion since 2012. Corbin had been a mainstay on TV over the last decade and not many had expected him to be cut.
Since then, there's been online chatter about what the former United States Champion could do post his WWE exit. On a recent edition of his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T revealed what he believed Corbin could do next. The wrestling legend praised Baron Corbin's acting chops and added that this could be the right opportunity for him to move on from wrestling and try his luck in films or TV.
"It's an opportunity to move on and do something else, because I think Baron Corbin can act," Booker said. "I think he can pick right up and keep this thing rolling, because he was never a guy that was a problem [or] had a problem with the script, and going out to the ring and laying that script out in front of a live crowd. He's never had that problem, so acting, I think will be a whole lot easier for him, just because 'Cut! Redo it. Cut! Let's try that again.' That kind of stuff. So, I think he could work out in that world very easily." (H/T - WrestlingInc.)
Kurt Angle wasn't pleased with Baron Corbin's WWE exit
In a recent chat with WrestleZone, Kurt Angle discussed how Corbin's sudden WWE departure had defeated the purpose of him putting over the former US Champion at WrestleMania 35.
Angle stated that the promotion should have done more with Baron Corbin and turned him into a legitimate main eventer.
"For me, it makes me feel like I did that for nothing. It’s not like, ‘Sc**w you, Angle,’ but it kinda is. I thought they were gonna run with the kid; I thought they were gonna make him one of the top-tier guys, and he was on his way," the Hall of Famer commented.
Many expected Corbin's fortunes to turn following his big win over Kurt Angle. However, it wasn't meant to be and he could never break into the main event.
