Braun Strowman announced for major non-WWE appearance amid injury hiatus
Braun Strowman is away from WWE action right now with yet another unfortunate injury. While waiting for WWE doctors to medically clear him to compete, Braun is apparently keeping busy by taking bookings with other promotions. Strowman was just announced for a big non-WWE annual event that he's worked at in the past.
The Monster of All Monsters last wrestled on September 30, where he defeated Bronson Reed in a Last Monster Standing match, thanks to Seth Rollins. Strowman reportedly suffered a torn groin during that match but has continued to make non-wrestling appearances for the company, while doing rehab for the groin tear.
Great Lakes Championship Wrestling has announced Strowman as the special guest referee for its Blizzard Brawl main event on Saturday, December 7 at the Waukesha County Expo Center in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The main event that night will see Santino Marella and Damien Sandow reunite to face Kal Herro and Al Snow with Marty Jannetty, billed as The Newest Rockers.
Strowman will also participate in a meet & greet at Blizzard Brawl, to benefit the Neosha Pond Association and the Honor Elementary School. Some of the other names booked for Blizzard Brawl are Sabu, EC3, Zilla Fatu, Frankie Kazarian, Ace Steel, McKenzie Mitchell, Wendi Richter, Armando Alejandro Estrada, Scotty 2 Hotty, and Steve Maclin, among others.
Braun Strowman has worked in several GLCW events over the years. The Blizzard Brawl 2021 event saw him and EC3 defeat Jake Something and Rohit Raju. Regarding his current injury, Strowman said he suffered the groin tear just two minutes into the 19-minute match with Reed. It's unknown how much ring time he will miss, but it could take several months for a groin tear to heal, depending on the severity.
Braun Strowman teases involvement with The Wyatt Sicks
The Wyatt Sicks currently dominate WWE RAW as the Bray Wyatt-inspired faction led by his brother. Long before The Wyatt Sicks, Bray himself led The Wyatt Family in WWE.
Bray's initial faction featured himself, Braun Strowman, Luke Harper, and Erick Rowan. Strowman, who was close with Bray in real life, was recently asked about joining The Wyatt Sicks by reporter Kelly Crandall.
"For Windham's legacy, to be able to carry on, Taylor [Bo Dallas] representing and stuff like that, and who knows, the monster might mix back up and come home one day," Braun Strowman said. [1:10 – 1:17]
The last time Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman teamed up on TV was Battleground 2016, where Braun and Bray joined Rowan in defeating The New Day. Strowman and Wyatt last worked together in 2020 as Braun retained the Universal Championship over Bray at Money in the Bank, but two months later Wyatt defeated Strowman in a Swamp Fight at Extreme Rules.
