BREAKING: New WWE champion shockingly crowned seconds before SmackDown

A new WWE champion was crowned seconds before the start of SmackDown. Tonight's broadcast also had multiple title matches announced, while the tournament to crown the first-ever women's US Champion also begins.

A new champion was crowned before SmackDown kicked off. Dragon Lee has now become the Speed Champion.

The star had defeated multiple stars in the course of getting to the final to face Andrade. Lee defeated Tavion Heights last month, and then last week, he also defeated Akira Tozawa to make it to the finals after winning his Speed tapings matches.

Now, Dragon Lee got to face Andrade in a big match before SmackDown started. The stars put on a speedy show as both of them struggled to get as close to a win as they could. At the end of the day, Dragon Lee was able to defeat Andrade and was crowned the new WWE Speed Champion. He was presented with the belt. The title match will air sometime in the coming weeks.

Bron Breakker and Sheamus had also been in the tournament, but both stars had been eliminated from the tournament after taking too long, as the three-minute timer ran out.

Now, Lee is the new WWE champion and has the target on his back. It remains to be seen what the future holds for him.
