Bron Breakker had good reason to complain to Triple H, WWE veteran says (Exclusive)

Bron Breakker unsuccessfully challenged Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship at WWE Money in the Bank on July 6. Vince Russo, the promotion's head writer in the late 1990s, believes Breaker should have raised concerns to Triple H about his booking.

In recent months, Triple H has presented Breakker as one of the most dominant superstars on RAW. Many expected the 26-year-old powerhouse to defeat Zayn and capture his first main roster title. However, he suffered a clean loss against the Intercontinental Champion after receiving a Helluva Kick.

Russo appeared on Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Outlaws show alongside host Dr. Chris Featherstone and NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion, EC3. Recalling a conversation he had with former WWE star Al Snow, Russo questioned why Breakker did not speak up to Triple H.

"One of the things we were talking about, Chris and EC3, is Bron Breakker saying I don't think it's a good idea that I lose to Sami Zayn. Okay, bro? Like, honestly, him making that statement, because losing to Sami Zayn hurt his brand," said Russo. [23:30 – 23:49]

Triple H has mostly received praise since replacing his father-in-law, Vince McMahon, as WWE's creative figurehead in 2022. Nonetheless, Russo thinks talents like Breakker should feel as though they can dispute match outcomes with their boss:

"What I don't understand, bro, is if Vince McMahon isn't there anymore, bro, and you don't gotta be afraid of the mighty and powerful Oz, where if you go against him you're done, then what is the problem?" wondered Russo. [23:50 – 24:05]

Why Vince Russo would have spoken up in Bron Breakker's position

In 1999, Vince Russo left WWE for WCW after Vince McMahon advised him to focus on work and hire a nanny to look after his children.

Russo believes the likes of Bron Breakker should prioritize their own careers and reputations over the WWE brand:

"If I'm working for them, I care about the Vince Russo brand, number one. I don't care about your brand, bro. Yes, bro, I work for you. I ain't gonna be working for you forever. So my number one priority is the Vince Russo brand. That is just business, bro," he stated. [24:17 – 24:40]

Russo also spoke about the CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre idea he would pitch if he still worked for WWE.
