Bron Breakker's rival (not Sami Zayn) breaks silence with five-word message following WWE RAW
Bron Breakker steamrolled his way into another crack at Sami Zayn's Intercontinental Championship this week on WWE RAW. He defeated fellow NXT alumni Ilja Dragunov via referee stoppage.
The Mad Dragon's issues with Breakker over the last several weeks led to this moment. But in the end, it was the latter who emerged victorious. The former NXT Champion's physicality was on display during the bout. Be that as it may, Ilja Dragunov is not someone to be discounted. He has consistently shown resiliency, even with bigger opponents such as Bron Breakker.
Although he lost the number-one contender's contest this week, the Russian-born wrestler assured fans that he is far from done chasing the title on the red brand. In his X post, he highlighted his recent performances with Breakker and Zayn:
"I decide when I break," Dragunov wrote.
For now, though, it is Bron Breakker who will walk into Cleveland Browns Stadium on August 3 to face Sami Zayn for the IC Title. The 26-year-old is hungry for respect and growth in WWE. He also seems to have taken issue with his clean loss to The Underdog at Money in the Bank.
WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner claims Sami Zayn cheated to win
Bron Breakker has been presented as a destructive machine since arriving to RAW. He has put away several names on the roster with his Spear, including former WWE Champion Sheamus, Ludwig Kaiser and Ricochet, who was written off television after Breakker put him through the windshield of a car.
Sportskeeda's Senior Editor Bill Apter recently chatted with the former NXT Champion's uncle, WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner, who touched upon his first high-profile shot on the main roster. Even with a loss, the young star shone bright in his maiden effort. Steiner believes Zayn just got lucky:
"Sami, he obviously cheated. You're not gonna beat Bron on his own. He got lucky. What did he have? Brass knuckles or something? What did he hit him with? Brass knuckles or something? He pulled something out. He can't beat him one-on-one. He got lucky."
