Bully Ray reacts to The Undertaker's controversial WWE win twenty years ago
WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker has been in several questionable and gimmick matches throughout his career as an active performer. However, Bully Ray spilled the tea on a match many consider Taker's biggest flop, which went down at the 2004 Great American Bash.
The Phenom squared off against The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley & D-Von Dudley) in a 2-on-1 Concrete Crypt match. The stipulation of the match was if Taker lost, his former manager, Paul Bearer would be buried in a glass crypt filled with cement.
The 59-year-old emerged victorious over The Dudleyz in a handicap match. However, The Undertaker did not free Bearer; instead, he entombed his former manager alive.
Today is the 20th anniversary of The Great American Bash PPV and a clip of The Dudley Boyz vs. The Phenom surfaced on the internet. Responding to the video on X/Twitter, Ray jokingly criticized WWE's decision to put over the 59-year-old and also expressed gratitude for being able to share the ring with The Undertaker.
"Worst. Idea. Ever!!! But a pleasure working the Deadman," he wrote.
The Undertaker reveals he will never wrestle in WWE again
Mark Calaway (Taker's real name) surprised everyone at WrestleMania 40 by lending a hand to Cody Rhodes in his championship win. In his official final match, The Phenom went out on his terms, defeating AJ Styles at The Show of Shows in 2020.
On an episode of Chris Van Vliet's INSIGHT, The Undertaker declared that he was not coming out of retirement. But he did not rule out making special cameos for the company.
"I could do it, but I couldn't do it to the standard that I wanted to do it. But I mean yeah, there's certain things that I don't feel like I would be able to do. But after I did it I came back and I was like, I'm good now. I don't need to do this again. I'm not saying that I wouldn't if they needed something like that again, but I'm not gonna have a match or I'm not coming out of retirement," he said.
It will be fascinating to see The Deadman's next potential appearance in the Triple H-led WWE.
