Carmelo Hayes' mystery opponent set for a talk show appearance on WWE SmackDown next week

Carmelo Hayes was scheduled to face a "mystery opponent" on the latest episode of WWE SmackDown. However, judging by his reaction, it was clear he didn’t expect the surprise opponent to be Braun Strowman.

In a triumphant return, The Monster Among Men dominated the match. Hayes attempted a flurry of offense early on, but it was in vain as Strowman defeated him convincingly with a running powerslam. Later, he was approached backstage by WWE correspondent Byron Saxton for his thoughts on his return.

However, Grayson Waller and Austin Theory interrupted the interview. Waller welcomed Strowman back and invited him to appear on his talk show, 'The Grayson Waller Effect,' next week on SmackDown. While initially uninterested, the former Universal Champion ultimately accepted the invitation.

Before his return this week, Strowman had been out of action. This was due to a groin injury he sustained during a match against Bronson Reed on Monday Night RAW a few months back. Braun has officially joined the blue brand as part of the ongoing transfer window.

It remains to be seen what the Stamford-based company has planned for Braun Strowman moving forward.
