Carmelo Hayes reveals he cried after real-life partner's major WWE victory

SmackDown star Carmelo Hayes has revealed that he got emotional after his real-life partner had a major victory in WWE. Hayes will be competing in the Men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match tomorrow night at the premium live event.

Hayes qualified for the match by pinning Randy Orton last month on WWE SmackDown. The first round draft pick was interviewed by Emily Mae ahead of Money in the Bank and shared that he got emotional after Kelani Jordan became the inaugural Women's North American Champion. Hayes and Jordan are dating in real life and the 25-year-old captured the title last month at NXT Battleground.

"Yeah, I was at home on the couch and I had no idea (that it was going to happen). I didn't know. So, I'm sitting and watching, thinking as she is climbing, 'Oh, that is a good little hope.' I'm thinking someone is going to rip her off and she grabbed the briefcase (title) and I jumped up, I actually cried tears of joy. You know, I've done a lot of cool things and I haven't cried. That made me actually cry because I know how hard that girl works and obviously I care a ton for that girl," he said. [From 00:05 - 00:31]

Carmelo Hayes credits WWE veteran for helping his career

Carmelo Hayes recently spoke highly of Baron Corbin and noted that he helped a lot of talent during his time in WWE NXT.

In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling's Bill Apter earlier this year, Hayes praised Baron Corbin for taking younger stars under his wing and helping them. He noted that The Lone Wolf helped him prepare for WWE's main roster while he was in NXT.

"Actually, I appreciate Baron Corbin a lot. He's one of those guys that, he came in, you know, he took a lot of us younger guys under his wing in a way, and kind of just smartened us up on the game. There is a lot of stuff that we don't know on the other side, that we aren't privy to because we haven't got to experience that yet." [3:04 onwards]
