Carmelo Hayes sends a message after third victory against reigning WWE champion
WWE Superstar Carmelo Hayes always brags about being the first draft pick of the year as he moved to Friday Night SmackDown. However, the former NXT Champion truly got that brag to shine last week after defeating a reigning WWE champion for the third time. The man in question is Andrade.
The WWE Speed Champion faced Carmelo Hayes for the sixth time after Melo’s provocation and the intense rivalry that has been ongoing on the blue brand for the last few weeks. Ahead of their sixth fight, he attacked The Megastar out of the blue while Andrade was addressing the US Champ’s disrespectful behavior. This later resulted in Knight coming for Melo before his bout with Andrade ended. As the luchador tried to send Knight away, Hayes found the perfect window of distraction and pinned him. The series is now tried 3-3.
Now, rubbing salt in the WWE Speed Champion’s wounds, Melo tweeted a video of him unleashing his springboard DDTs on Andrade, sending him a message on X.
“Attitude was f*ck it #SmackDown,” Hayes wrote.
Carmelo Hayes has the attention of two WWE champions on him now
Carmelo Hayes had lost the number one contender’s match for the US Championship against Andrade a few weeks ago. While this cleared his name from the top spot list, he has now catapulted himself back to the top in just one night. Now, both the WWE Speed Champion and the United States Champion have their eyes on “him.”
Following his victory, Byron Saxton approached Melo backstage and talked to him about the match. The veteran interviewer asked Hayes if he was okay with winning the match in such a foul manner. Retorting to this, the former NXT Champion called Saxton a loser who didn’t understand his winner’s mindset.
“Hey bro, you sound like a real loser. Bro, a win is a win, no matter how you get the win. Look, there's only one person that wants that US Championship more than me today. And that's me tomorrow.”
With this, Hayes also revealed his intentions to pursue the US Title. With The Megastar wanting a piece of “Him” now, Melo’s plan is paying the dividends he had hoped for. It would be interesting to see when and where he will receive his first main roster title shot.
