Cathy Kelley addresses potential active role on WWE roster; shares major update on future

Cathy Kelley is currently in her second stint with WWE after getting re-hired back in October 2022. Kelley recently shared that she is interested in exploring other roles in WWE. She also gave an update on her future in not just the Stamford-based company, but in the wrestling industry as a whole.

The Loyola University Chicago product began her career as a host on a variety of radio and television shows. She made her name as part of AfterBuzz TV before being signed by WWE in 2016. She left the company in early 2020 before being brought back two years later.

In an appearance on the #B4theBell podcast, Kelley was asked about potentially having a bigger role in the company. She's open to a managerial role though she'll only do it with the right WWE Superstar and the right storyline. The journalist also gave an update on her future.

"I would definitely be open to managing if it is the right pairing. That is something that I would love to grow into, whether that's tomorrow or whether that's a decade down the line. Because I do really see myself involved in WWE, in wrestling, in some way throughout my entire career," Kelley said. [From 51:36 to 51:53]

It's not rare to see backstage interviewers become characters and be part of storylines on WWE television today. Michael Cole, Jonathan Coachman and Pat McAfee are the best examples, while Renee Young was promoted to a play-by-play commentator.

Cathy Kelley opens up about accident in Saudi Arabia

The WWE roster was in Saudi Arabia earlier this month for Crown Jewel. It was another historic event that could have ended up being diastrous for Cathy Kelley and Kevin Owens. She told the #B4theBell podcast that she was involved in a dune buggy accident with KO.

"We just got into a kind of traumatizing accident when we were in Saudi Arabia when we were in a dune buggy. I kind of credit him for saving my life in that moment. We rolled three and a half times in a dune buggy. He said his initial instinct was to protect me. I was holding onto a safety rail, he was right behind me. We could have gotten much more banged up than we did. We were really lucky that we walked out of it relatively unscathed," Cathy Kelley said. [H/T: Fightful]

Cathy Kelley is also open to giving KO a platform to express his frustrations following his attack on Cody Rhoeds and Randy Orton.
