Chelsea Green pushes for former champion to return to WWE after 4 years at upcoming event

Chelsea Green is pushing for the return of a former champion after four years at an upcoming major WWE show. Green is currently involved in a rivalry with Michin on WWE SmackDown.

It was recently announced that Saturday Night's Main Event will be airing on NBC/Peacock on December 14. The event will emanate from the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York.

Green took to social media today to suggest that her husband, Matt Cardona (formerly known as Zack Ryder), return to the company at Saturday Night's Main Event later this year. She noted that the former Intercontinental Champion was from Long Island in her post.

"👀 Long Island hey? I know a guy from LI," she wrote.

Matt Cardona's time in WWE came to an end in 2020. He spent 14 years with the promotion and captured the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 32. The veteran has made a name for himself on the independent wrestling scene since his departure from the company four years ago.

Former WWE manager reacts to Chelsea Green's attack on SmackDown

Wrestling legend Dutch Mantell recently shared his thoughts on Chelsea Green attacking Michin (Mia Yim) this past Friday night on SmackDown.

Chelsea Green defeated Michin on the September 6 edition of the blue brand. Piper Niven lost to Michin this past Friday night, but Green attacked the latter after the match. Green and Niven beat down the 35-year-old and slammed her on top of a trash can.

Speaking on the latest episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk show, Mantell noted that he enjoyed the attack on SmackDown simply because Green was involved.

"I liked it because Chelsea was in it. Just put her out there, it can be a walk around and it would be good enough for me," Dutch Mantell said. [52:47 - 52:55]

Chelsea Green returned to WWE during the Women's Royal Rumble match in 2023. She has become quite popular among wrestling fans but still has never won a singles title during her time in the company. The 33-year-old almost won the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder match earlier this year, but in the end, it was Tiffany Stratton who emerged victorious.
