Chelsea Green reveals major way she celebrated historic WWE championship win
WWE Saturday Night's Main Event was a history-making show for Chelsea Green and Michin as they competed in tournament finals to crown the inaugural Women's United States Champion. Green entered the history books as the winner, and she quickly began gloating as only she could. The champ just delivered a major "told you so!" to the WWE Universe in the form of a celebration photo.
The Hot Mess of World Wrestling Entertainment defeated Michin in Saturday's eight-minute tournament finals, thanks to an assist by Piper Niven. Green made it to the finals by winning a first-round Triple Threat over Bianca Belair and Blair Davenport, then defeating Bayley in the semi-finals on Friday's SmackDown. Michin won her Triple-Threat over Niven and Lash Legend, then advanced past the semi-finals by defeating Tiffany Stratton last Friday night.
A popular declaration uttered by the winners of various sporting events and other contests has been "I'm going to Disneyland!" going back decades. Green declared this on Sunday morning after waking up as the inaugural Women's US Champion. While it seemed most fans did not take the 33-year-old seriously, she took to X later in the day and revealed that she really did go to Disneyland to celebrate her championship win with her husband, Matt Cardona.
Green also jokingly touted her new championship record and included a photo.
"Your longest reigning @WWE Women’s United States Champion [sparkles emoji]," Chelsea Green wrote with the photo below.
Green and Michin are both former TNA Knockouts World Champions, and this was acknowledged in SNME commentary by Michael Cole. It was also noted how Chelsea's TNA championship win aired precisely seven years before her SNME win. She defeated Rosemary to win the vacant title on November 8, 2017, but the match did not air until December 14.
Triple H touts Chelsea Green's WWE SNME win
Chelsea Green became the first-ever WWE Women's United States Champion at SNME this past weekend, and she's already received her custom title side plates. Green has also received immense praise from fans and colleagues on social media.
Triple H was among those that tweeted about Green's big win over Michin. The Chief Content Officer included one of his signature backstage photos.
"Every opportunity - big or small - has led to this moment. @ImChelseaGreen ... you've earned it. #AndNew," Triple H wrote with the photo below.
WWE has not named Green's first challenger for the title, but Michin and Bayley are rumored to receive shots. Chelsea is expected to deliver a celebratory promo, inserted into the broadcast, during Friday's taped SmackDown episode.
