Chelsea Green shares an unfortunate update ahead of WWE Money in the Bank
Chelsea Green has shared an unfortunate update on social media. Green is set to participate in the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match at the premium live event on July 6.
Green returned to WWE in 2023, entering the Women's Royal Rumble Match, but was quickly eliminated by Rhea Ripley. Since returning to the Stamford-based company, the 33-year-old has won the Women's Tag Team Championship. Her title reign began alongside Sonya Deville before the latter suffered an injury and was replaced by Piper Niven, who stepped up as Green's newest tag team partner.
Green had earlier revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that she lost her bag ahead of the premium live event in Toronto, Canada. In a now-deleted tweet, she blamed United Airlines for losing her bag. However, she remained confident of her chances to win the Women's MITB Ladder Match.
"What a weekend for @united to lose my bag… the weekend I’m supposed to win #MITB. Welp, may be wrestling in my gym clothes!" wrote Green.
Bully Ray wants Chelsea Green to win the Women's Money in the Bank briefcase
Bully Ray wants Chelsea Green to win the Women's Money in the Bank briefcase. The wrestling veteran believes that Green would elevate the prestige of the MITB briefcase.
Speaking on the Busted Open podcast, Ray stated that although he doesn't see it happening, he wanted Green to win the Women's MITB Ladder Match. He was certain the 33-year-old would be extremely entertaining as the holder of the coveted briefcase. He noted that Chelsea would most likely make the briefcase seem even more important than a World Championship.
"1000% who I want to win is Chelsea Green. [...] Chelsea with that briefcase is entertainment gold..it's just gold. But it's never going to happen. Because, as I said, as you backed up, Chelsea with that briefcase, she will make that briefcase mean more than anybody else. She will look at that briefcase as if it is more important than the Women’s World Championship," he said.
The Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match on July 6 will also feature Tiffany Stratton, Naomi, Zoey Stark, Lyra Valkyria, and last year's winner, IYO SKY.
