WWE News: Chris Jericho's potential plans for Hell In A Cell

Chris Jericho at Wrestlemania 32

Chris Jericho has had one of the best runs of his career this year. As his run is seemingly winding down, fans continue to appreciate Jericho. One of the reasons for his success is his ability to reinvent himself and to stay relevant in a sea of young talent in the New Era.

He is perhaps the only long-time veteran from back in the Attitude Era still in The New Era wrestling full-time and thriving. Jericho unsuccessfully challenged Rollins to be added to the Universal Championship match at Hell In A Cell.

However, according to CageSide Seats, he was originally scheduled to be part of the Universal Championship match, but plans were changed as they wanted to make the Universal Championship match a Hell In A Cell match. However, he may still be involved in the match in some form or the other, very likely a special guest referee.

It would have been interesting to see Jericho in the Universal Championship picture as he is currently aligned with the champion Kevin Owens and they are on-screen best friends. The moment Jericho teased challenging Owens for the championship, the Raw crowd erupted with “Yes!” chants. That may have definitely put some ideas in creative’s heads.

It was said that if Finn Balor were not injured, the original plan was for him to have his first title defence against Kevin Owens at Clash Of Champions and against Owens and Jericho at Hell In A Cell. WWE teased the plans being the same with Rollins being there instead, but as mentioned, that did not pan out.

Jericho’s alliance with Kevin Owens has only helped him, as the two have become an organically comedic duo who are also one of the central parts of Monday Night Raw. Jericho himself has excelled in his “Stupid Idiot” gimmick and also his latest “List Of Jericho” gimmick.

He announced that his band Fozzy signed a deal with Century media, and it indicates that his WWE run may be coming to an end very soon

Naturally, this is not a sight for sore eyes for WWE fans whose respect for the legend has upped even more due to the current run. However, whether he goes or not, we know that when Y2J returns he will be back better than ever.
