CM Punk appears at event; possible hint about WWE return
CM Punk's controversial exit from AEW has left fans anticipating his potential WWE return, and a recent video from the latest MMA event has seemingly dropped a major hint.
Punk's infamous exit from WWE, and subsequent return to wrestling via AEW had the wrestling world buzzing. However, things took a sharp turn when Punk's backstage antics led to multiple fights, and he was fired as a result.
Fans have identified several apparent teases regarding CM Punk's return to the Triple H-led promotion. The latest video features the man himself, who appeared at the recently concluded MMA event in Tampa, Florida, at CFFC 126.
The host in the abovementioned video said, "CM Punk is here, and he may be going to other promotions," before discussing the matchcard. Interestingly, the background music was Black Sabbath's War Pigs, which was also the official theme song for Survivor Series last year.
It is worth noting that this year's Survivor Series will be held in Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois. This is also CM Punk's hometown, with several anticipating his return at the last of the annual big-4 premium live events next month.
WWE reportedly rejected CM Punk's return
While several teases have been shown on television, the latest backstage reports have stated that the promotion has different plans. Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp recently shed light on the backstage approach to the situation. He revealed that several higher-ups on the roster seemingly do not want CM Punk to return.
"There's always a chance, but there are a lot of top people on the roster in WWE that don't want him there," he informed.
However, the report also stressed the "never say never" phenomenon concerning wrestling returns. While many have noted that CM Punk's return to Triple H's promotion would be great for business, others have raised concerns over the controversial star's personality and resulting internal conflicts.
