WWE News: CM Punk believes going back to WWE will be a loss
It has been almost 3 years since Phil "CM Punk" Brooks left WWE in an abrupt manner but there is a large community of his fans who still hope that the former World Champion would one day return to the company.
With the latest return of former WCW Champion Goldberg, who also left WWE on bad terms, fans have once again started talking about the possibilities of Punk returning to the squared circle.
Unfortunately for the fans of the former WWE Champion, it doesn't look like that the former leader of the Straight Edge Society has changed his mind about WWE and his recently revealed thoughts only resemble the early statements Phil gave following his WWE departure back in 2014.
In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed that Punk still believes that going back to WWE will be a loss in life for him. Meltzer said:
“The thing with Punk is that, according to those close to Punk, he would see going back to WWE as a loss in life, where Goldberg was just a businessman who had hard feelings about the past but would have no trouble letting them go if it was the right business.”
It's worth noticing here that CM Punk left WWE back in 2014 after the annual Royal Rumble match. He was still under contract with WWE at that time but refused to appear for the company accusing them of making him wrestle in an injured condition and not providing the right medical care for his injuries.
After leaving the company, he declared that he had retired from Pro Wrestling. Later he was signed by UFC as an MMA fighter and Punk started training for his fight.
The former WWE Employee made his UFC debut in September this year. However, he was not able to make any significant impact in his first UFC bout and was defeated by his opponent Mickey Gall in less than 3 minutes.
On the other hand, Bill Goldberg who became a big star in WCW but was not signed by WWE after they bought their rival promotion in 2001, signed a one-year contract with WWE in 2003.
After his contract expired, he decided not to renew it due to backstage politics and his lack of passion for the business. Many believe that his grief with Triple H only helped in his decision to leave the company.
Whether or not we will ever see CM Punk back in WWE is a matter which only time can resolve but for now, it looks like the former WWE star has no intentions of going back to the company where he wrestled for almost a decade.
