CM Punk calls out WWE legend to a dream match after 11 years

WWE Superstar CM Punk recently called out a legendary wrestler to a dream match after more than a decade. The legend being referred to is none other than John Cena.

Cena is one of the biggest names to ever step inside the squared circle in World Wrestling Entertainment. Next year will be filled with emotions as the 16-time World Champion has announced that he will hang up his boots at the end of 2025. Since this announcement, many people have called out The Cenation Leader to a match.

The latest name on the list is his former rival, CM Punk. Cena and Punk have managed to put on some of the greatest performances ever in WWE. They last faced each other in a singles bout 11 years ago, on the February 25, 2013, episode of RAW.

During an interview with Peter Rosenberg, CM Punk named several stars he would want to face WWE. He then name-dropped John Cena, saying it would mean the world to him if he got to be a part of Cena's retirement tour.

Punk also mentioned that he would love to get his hands on The Cenation Leader once again.

"There's big match John [Cena] coming right around the corner. Another guy that I don't want to talk about because he's going to do his own thing. And if I'm a part of that, what a fortunate career I've had. But John deserves everything that he wants. I mean, he calls his own shots, is basically what I'm saying. But yeah, I'd love to get hands on him too," Punk said.

WWE star CM Punk revealed what he told John Cena after his retirement announcement

During the WWE Money in the Bank post-show press conference, CM Punk said John Cena meant a lot to his professional wrestling career.

The Second City Saint also mentioned that he was proud of The Cenation Leader before revealing that he told the latter that they should face each other one more time in 2025.

"Cena to my career means a lot. I don't think there's [sic] many people up in that rare air where if you talk about my career, I feel like you have to talk about John. It makes me feel proud that I think if you talk about John's career, you have to talk about me. We're married in that respect. Proud of him, he gets to go out on his terms. I know that's important. I'm looking forward to what he does, and I told him that if it's gonna be one more time, we gotta do it one more time."
