CM Punk has discovered a way to be "helpful," reveals 2-time WWE champion

WWE Superstar CM Punk, now a seasoned veteran in the industry, has taken on the role of mentor as he makes frequent trips to the NXT brand. Recently, Trick Williams shared his experience working alongside The Best in The World.

Since Punk came back to the Stamford-based promotion at Survivor Series 2023, he has been popping in and out of the WWE training facility. The 45-year-old star has been at the Performance Center for both practice and to heal from injuries.

For those unaware, The Second City Saint is scheduled to officiate the NXT Championship match between Trick Williams and reigning champion Ethan Page on the October 1, 2024, episode of NXT.

In a recent appearance on the Ringer Wrestling Worldwide show, the former NXT Champion and one-time North American Champion praised CM Punk for his mentorship role on the white-and-gold brand, highlighting the veteran's ability to connect with athletes from diverse backgrounds.

"CM Punk has been great to us here at NXT. We got athletes from all over, all different backgrounds. We got throwers; we got gymnasts. We got a little bit of everything here at NXT, and CM Punk has found a way to be able to be helpful to us all. Not just me, all of us. We sit down and take the knowledge. We learn from CM Punk," he said.

Trick Williams emphasized the significance of The Straight Edge Superstar being the Special Guest Referee for the upcoming NXT Title match in Chicago, anticipating a fair and impartial match call.

"So the fact that he's a Special Guest Referee in Chicago on October 1st is huge for us. I'm super excited for it. I know he's going to call it down the middle,'' he added. [From 48:16 to 48:50]

Wrestling veteran says CM Punk could be top WWE star's next challenger after Bad Blood

The Voice of The Voiceless is set to face Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood in a brutal Hell in a Cell Match. Meanwhile, reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther could potentially defend his title against Sami Zayn at the upcoming PLE.

In an episode of Busted Open After Dark, Tommy Dreamer mentioned that CM Punk's next target should be the World Title. The wrestling veteran envisioned the match between The Second City Saint and The Ring General as a potential main event.

"I think the only place CM Punk can go is the World Title. I think we have a CM Punk vs. Gunther match; that's a massive main event waiting. Drew [McIntyre], I don't know where he goes. It maybe gives Drew a little bit of time away," Dreamer said.
