CM Punk envisions 310 lb WWE star as key member of potential new stable
WWE Superstar CM Punk is no stranger to leading a faction within the company. He previously spearheaded the Straight Edge Society over a decade ago. Ahead of the Bad Blood Premium Live Event, The Best in the World shared that he would like a 310-pound star to be a part of his potential new stable.
The name in question is the reigning NXT North American Champion, Oba Femi. Earlier this year, The Ruler defeated Dragon Lee for the title and, since then, has been unstoppable. Stars like Josh Briggs, Dijak, Wes Lee, Joe Coffey, Otis, and many others failed to dethrone Femi.
In an interview with KTSM, CM Punk was asked who he would envision as part of a possible resurgence of the Straight Edge Society. The former WWE Champion stated that Oba Femi would be the top choice, hands down.
"I don’t want to beat a dead horse, so it would have to be some sort of a variation on the Straight Edge Society. Maybe something a little bit similar, maybe named different. I think the number one with a bullet to be with me in some form of a stable would be Oba [Femi]," Punk said. [H/T: KTSM]
Ex-WWE employee reveals why CM Punk must lose at Bad Blood
The Straight Edge Superstar has been involved in a heated rivalry with Drew McIntyre for the past few months. The two men have already faced off against each other, once at SummerSlam and again at Bash in Berlin, with The Scottish Warrior winning the first match and CM Punk winning the second. At WWE Bad Blood, McIntyre and Punk will clash for the third time in a brutal Hell in a Cell match this Saturday.
On a recent episode of The Coach and Bro Wrestling Show on Sportskeeda's Backstage Pass, Vince Russo mentioned that Drew McIntyre is a safe bet to win against CM Punk in Hell in a Cell Match. The former WWE writer cited The Scottish Warrior's recent losing streak and the possibility of a less physically demanding victory as factors supporting this prediction.
"I'm gotta be honest with you. I'm betting on Drew because they beat Drew to death. I mean, they beat Drew to death. He's lost every single time. He's got to get his hand raised in one of these times. I think that is the safe bet. ... Being Hell in a Cell, there's a million ways you could beat Punk without hurting him," Russo said.
The Hell in a Cell Match between McIntyre and Punk is reportedly set to be an opener for Bad Blood. It remains to be seen if the two WWE Superstars will put their rivalry to bed after the upcoming PLE.
