CM Punk finally addresses major WWE announcement: "Baby steps"
CM Punk has been around in WWE for enough time to learn many things about the business. The Best in the World opened up about a major announcement that can take him to the next level.
Punk was one of the WWE stars who attended the Fanatics Live signing, where he was joined by many of his friends and colleagues. Big E, a close friend of CM Punk, was also present at the event.
The Best in the World has been announced to appear at NXT’s first show on the CW Network later this year. Big E joked that Punk would take NXT out from under Shawn Michaels’ nose.
The former World Heavyweight Champion clarified what he wanted to do after WWE announced his NXT appearance. He stated that he would love to work under HBK and learn how to manage such a successful brand.
"Baby steps. I would love to work underneath Shawn at some point. It’s not like I want Shawn to go away, ‘Here, take over.’ I would want to learn from him and see how he operates and how he does things. NXT is sort of left alone. Triple H lets Shawn....he trusts Shawn. From NXT to the main roster are wildly different. I think it’s good to know both systems, and I can learn from everybody," Punk said. [ H/T Fightful]
CM Punk has helped out and given some quality advice to many up-and-coming stars, including Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez. His long-term involvement in NXT down the road could potentially help build some top stars.
A UFC champion recently praised WWE’s CM Punk
Belal Muhammad recently won the UFC Welterweight Championship at UFC 304. The Chicago native is a close friend of the veteran superstar.
Speaking after an episode of WWE RAW where CM Punk congratulated him on his win, Belal Muhammad talked about how close he was to the WWE star. He noted that The Best in the World is a genuine and good person.
"That’s my brother,” said Muhammad. “We used to train together in Roufusport Milwaukee. He’s a good friend, he’s from Chicago, and any time we’re together, we’ll hit the stairs together or something and get a good workout in. He’s truly a genuine, good person. Seeing him give me that shout-out on Raw, that was epic. He’s always wanted to see me succeed."
Belal wants to team up with CM Punk someday. It could turn out to be an incredible contest for fans if the UFC fighter enters the squared circle to join one of wrestling’s biggest stars.
