CM Punk holds a unique undefeated record heading into Bash in Berlin
WWE star CM Punk recently spoke about his upcoming Strap Match against Drew McIntyre. The veteran wrestler is in Germany for WWE's premium live event, Bash in Berlin.
Punk appeared during the Bash in Berlin Kickoff Show. WWE announcer Michael Cole hosted the event and asked the star about his undefeated streak in Strap matches. He pointed out that the Best in the World is 2-0 in Strap matches. His first victory came back in 2006 when he was in the company's developmental brand, Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW). His second win came against the legendary Umaga in a Samoan Strap Match a few years later.
Speaking on his record, Punk mentioned that despite his stellar record in these types of matches, he wasn't fond of the stipulation. However, the Straight-Edge Star believed this was his best opportunity to inflict pain on McIntyre.
"Strap matches are brutal, and I absolutely hate them. But that's exactly why I wanted Drew in a Strap Match. The opportunity for me to inflict pain and hurt him is there. There's a gamble because the opportunity for me to get injured and get whipped with a strap is there too. But it's worth it because I'm gonna take the skin off his back." [From 13:32 - 13:52]
CM Punk was backstage with the Terror Twins
Despite his upcoming brutal matchup against Drew McIntyre, CM Punk had fun during the Bash in Berlin kickoff. He was backstage during the event and got a few clicks for his Instagram account.
In a recent Instagram story, Punk shared a light moment backstage with Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest. The Terror Twins were also on the kickoff show.
While CM Punk will be in the Strap Match, the duo of Rhea and Damian will look to settle scores with the Judgment Day as they go up against Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan at the event.
