CM Punk may return to WWE under a unique condition; according to former company employee (Exclusive)
Wrestling veteran Dutch Mantell recently spoke about the CM Punk situation and his future with the WWE.
Earlier this week, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported that WWE higher-ups were very clear that there was no contract between the two parties at the moment. He also stated that the company was aware of the speculations and did not want any unrealistic expectations ahead of the Survivor Series Premium Live Event in Chicago.
This week on Smack Talk, Mantell claimed that there was not much for Punk to do with the way the current roster is stacked up. He pointed out that WWE would have to shuffle a lot of things to fit the former AEW star into their midst. Dutch, however, did not rule out an eventual return, stating that the company could hire him if things started getting monotonous for the fans.
"Well, I predicted he would [show up], with the way that things were going. But if you really look at the landscape of WWE, what are you gonna do with him right off the bat? It's a packed, packed roster. You're gonna have to move somebody over. There's a lot of guys I don't think he just fits with. So, I think with CM Punk at this point, if a spell comes where WWE gets a bit stale, they may hop over there and grab CM Punk for a year run. I think he's 47 now, and WWE looks at age, as everybody." CM Punk was in Tampa this Friday
After his controversial exit from AEW, Punk has been relatively quiet and has not been seen publicly.
However, that changed this week as he made an appearance on the commentary team at MMA event CFFC 126 in Tampa, Florida. The host mentioned that CM Punk "may be going to other promotions" while Black Sabbath's War Pigs was playing in the background.
It is interesting to note that the same track was the official theme song for Survivor Series last year. Despite the Fightful report, there are still rumors that Punk might show up at this year's Survivor Series.
