CM Punk recalls his most memorable moment in AEW; says one person comes to mind
CM Punk looked back on his time in AEW and commented on his most memorable match. He stated that sharing the ring with Darby Allin was a memorable moment for him and the latter as well.
The two stars collided at the All Out pay-per-view in 2021, which was The Second City Saint's first wrestling match since the 2014 WWE Royal Rumble. The multi-time world champion didn't have a very long run in the Tony Khan-led promotion, as he was let go last year after his backstage altercation with Jack Perry and Tony Khan at Wembley Stadium.
Speaking to Denise Salcedo in a recent interview, CM Punk stated that Darby Allin was the first person he thought of when reflecting on his most memorable match or moment in AEW.
"Darby Allin immediately comes to mind. Darby's a friend of mine and I don't like talking about myself like in this regard because again, people sensationalize headlines and they make assumptions and next thing, you know, people in the basement are diagnosing me with some sort of a physiological disorder even though - anway, I like to think that that was a special moment for Darby, being a straight-edged kid, being the one that kind of lured CM Punk back into the ring and getting my first match back after six or seven years or whatever it was," said Punk. Could Seth Rollins cost CM Punk his match against Drew McIntyre at WWE SummerSlam?
At The Biggest Party of the Summer, the long-awaited match between The Straight Edge Superstar and Drew McIntyre will finally happen. However, there's a big twist. Seth Rollins, who's had issues with both men, will be the Special Guest Referee.
The Visionary and CM Punk have been foes for a long time, while The Scottish Warrior cost him the World Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank.
Rollins was supposed to wrestle Punk at WrestleMania XL before the latter was sidelined with an injury. It'll be interesting to see whether Seth Rollins will call things down the middle at SummerSlam.
It'll even be more interesting to see whether he will count to three and give Punk the victory or cost him the match instead.
