CM Punk reflects on his 1-year WWE run since returning to the company

It's been almost one full year since CM Punk made a surprise return to WWE at Survivor Series in his hometown of Chicago. He has looked back on his run with the company and spoke about what it's been like for him.

The Second City Saint made his first televised in-ring return at the Royal Rumble, where he competed in the 30-man match. However, he tore his right triceps during the bout and was last eliminated by Cody Rhodes, the eventual winner. He was supposed to face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania XL, but the injury ruled him out, and he feuded with Drew McIntyre for the majority of the year.

During an interview with Peter Rosenberg, CM Punk spoke about his current run in WWE now that it's been a year. He stated:

"Aside from the whole triceps injury and surgery, we really turned chicken s*** into chicken salad with that one. Almost a little bit of a gift. I think people forget that I was hurt because I was such a focal point, just doing what we do, entertaining people. I don't want to grade myself, I leave that to the fans and my peers, and the people I work for. They can go ahead and grade it. I've had the time of my life, though, coming back. I weigh this past year up against any year of my entire career," said Punk. (H/T Wrestling INC.)

CM Punk wants to wrestle John Cena again in WWE

John Cena has competed in WWE for many years, but he will officially retire from in-ring action next year. His last match will take place in December 2025.

CM Punk told Peter Rosenberg that he is interested in sharing the ring with the 16-time world champion before his retirement.

"There's big match John [Cena] coming right around the corner. Another guy that I don't want to talk about because he's going to do his own thing. And if I'm a part of that, what a fortunate career I've had. But John deserves everything that he wants. I mean, he calls his own shots, is basically what I'm saying. But yeah, I'd love to get hands on him too," Punk said.

CM Punk and John Cena have many good matches together in WWE, so it'll be interesting to see whether they'll share the ring again next year.
