CM Punk reveals he wants only one thing from John Cena before he retires
It's surreal to see CM Punk completely at peace with John Cena 13 years after their career-defining rivalry. Despite this, he has only one request for WWE's former franchise player.
For any younger fan who started watching WWE after 2012-13, you may have missed one of the greatest wrestling rivalries of the 21st century. CM Punk and John Cena were polar opposites, with Punk being the anti-establishment. At the same time, Cena was the hand-picked corporate golden boy - something that translated into magic on television whenever the two were together.
Responding to John Cena's retirement announcement, CM Punk paid tribute to the greatest of all time and even said that he wants to lace up a pair of boots one last time with his old rival.
It was a wholesome moment, as was the moment backstage at Money in the Bank 2024. 13 years after their all-time classic at Money in the Bank 2011, the two seem to be on great terms and have a great deal of respect for one another.
Even when Seth Rollins verbally decimated Punk in their promo on RAW, The Best in the World paid subtle tribute to Cena by saying, "Fine speech."
Punk has a lot of enemies on RAW.
