CM Punk thought he would be jumped by WWE crowd at Clash at the Castle

WWE has shared footage of CM Punk moments after he interfered in a massive match at Clash at the Castle this past Saturday night. It has been announced that Punk will be appearing on this Friday's episode of SmackDown in Chicago.

Damian Priest defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre in the main event of this Saturday's premium live event. McIntyre had the match won after connecting with a Claymore, but referee Eddie Orengo was taken out moments earlier. Punk rushed to the ring in a referee shirt but did not count to three. Priest was then able to emerge victorious as the Chicago native watched on from outside the ring.

WWE shared a video on Instagram today of Punk celebrating with the crowd. The controversial star said that he thought he was going to get jumped with a huge grin on his face as the crowd chanted his name. The veteran also took the time to sign a replica WWE Title as seen in the video below.

Former WWE employee Vince Russo predicts CM Punk will get injured again

Vince Russo does not believe CM Punk will be able to hold up when he is cleared to return to action.

Punk's time in All Elite Wrestling was marred by controversies, but the 45-year-old also suffered multiple injuries. It has been the same issue so far in WWE, as he tore his triceps during the Men's Royal Rumble match, the first televised bout since his return to the company.

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW show last month, Russo predicted that Punk would be injured within three months of his return to the ring.

"Can I make a bold prediction? I hate to say this but when Punk comes back, he’s gonna be injured in three months. I am telling you, man. He is old, bro. He can’t do what he used to do without getting hurt. He is older, he hasn’t been in the ring in how long? He’s not gonna hold up," said Russo.

Drew McIntyre had previously warned CM Punk that he could be attacked by the fans in Scotland if he showed up at Clash at the Castle. It will be interesting to see how McIntyre gets his revenge on the former AEW star in the weeks ahead.
