CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre should not be inside Hell in a Cell, says WWE legend; different stipulation suggested
The CM Punk - Drew McIntyre saga is seemingly nearing its end now. On this week's episode of WWE RAW, General Manager Adam Pearce announced that The Best in the World and The Scottish Warrior would enter the Hell in a Cell structure at WWE Bad Blood to finally take out their anger at each other and end things in the ring officially.
This announcement was made after McIntyre's brutal attack on CM Punk last week on the red brand. The Scottish Warrior broke Punk's bracelet, which has almost become a cornerstone in their incredible rivalry. McIntyre has made it clear that he wanted to end CM Punk's career once and for all.
WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray, in a recent edition of the Busted Open Podcast, addressed the upcoming Hell in a Cell match and suggested that this rivalry didn't need the gimmick of the cell. Rather, he wanted to see McIntyre and Punk in an 'I Quit' match to put an end to this very personal rivalry.
"To me, this is such a personal issue with Drew and Punk, around the bracelet and things like that, the breaking in the bracelet. Yada yada, there is nothing more humiliating than a man having to say 'I quit' to another man," said the Hall of Famer. [3:24 onwards]
Bully Ray continued to add that while a Hell in a Cell match to celebrate its anniversary was a pretty good idea, the intense, personal rivalry both men have had so far should rather showcase an 'I Quit' match.
"It's Bad Blood, the anniversary of the cell, I get it. I get what comes with the package that comes with this match. To me, this is so personal with Drew and Punk that I would rather hear another man say 'I quit,'" he added. [3:50 onwards]
When will CM Punk return following Drew McIntyre's brutal attack?
CM Punk's health status following Drew McIntyre's brutal attack on RAW last week seems to be fine. WWE recently announced that The Best in the World was set to make an appearance on NXT next week to make a special announcement on the developmental brand.
With an appearance scheduled for NXT next week, making a stop at WWE RAW won't be a big surprise. Bad Blood is scheduled to take place in just a few weeks and Punk and McIntyre would look to add some more heat to their feud ahead of their Hell in a Cell match.
