Cody Rhodes attacks the referee during WWE Saturday Night's Main Event; doesn't get disqualified
WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes went at it against Kevin Owens at Saturday Night's Main Event. During the match, The American Nightmare took the referee out but did not get disqualified.
Since Bad Blood 2024, Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens have been in a heated feud. However, things went out of control in the following weeks. The American Nightmare eventually called out Owens to a match. It was later revealed that the duo would face each other at Saturday Night's Main Event.
During the show, both Rhodes and Owens started the match on a high note. The stars paid subtle tributes to legendary names, including Cody's father, the late great Dusty Rhodes.
However, during the last stages of the match, Kevin Owens went for the Stunner but Cody Rhodes tried to reverse it into a Cross Rhodes but couldn't pull it off. Owens then pushed Cody and the champion slammed into the referee. Despite hitting the official, The American Nightmare did not get disqualified.
The match continued with Kevin Owens hitting the Stunner. As KO went in for the three count, the referee was nowhere to be seen. As another official later came out, Cody hit him as well with a misplaced Crossbody.
The bout ultimately ended in Cody Rhodes' favor and he walked out with the Undisputed WWE Championship once again.
