Cody Rhodes breaks character at Saturday Night's Main Event; uses a heel tactic during WWE title defense

Cody Rhodes broke character at Saturday Night's Main Event, as he used a heel tactic during his match against Kevin Owens. He retained the Undisputed WWE Championship by using an illegal weapon.

Charles Robinson, the referee, got knocked out during the match after The Prizefighter shoved The American Nightmare into him. KO nailed Cody with a stunner and went for the cover, but nobody was there to count. The official was still on the floor selling the bump.

Another referee came out and made the count, but Rhodes kicked out at two. Kevin Owens got angry at the referee, as he believed he had Cody Rhodes beat. KO tried to do a pop-up powerbomb, but the champion avoided it and kicked him in the face with a superkick.

Cody went for a Disaster Kick, but KO got out of the way, and he landed on the second official. KO sent Cody Rhodes to the ring post and picked up a chair from the timekeeper's area. He tried to hit his opponent with it, but Cody ducked and nailed Kevin Owens with a Cody Cutter.

Cody nailed Owens with a Cross Rhodes onto the chair, and Charles Robinson got up and counted to three. He cheated to win the match, even though he's a babyface.
