Cody Rhodes celebrates milestone ahead of WWE SmackDown
Cody Rhodes is fresh off a successful Undisputed WWE Title defense against AJ Styles, in an "I Quit" Match, no less. Triple H and the creative team wasted little time establishing a new angle, which seemingly hints at his next challenger.
With Money in the Bank and SummerSlam fast approaching, Rhodes is not exactly short of interesting challengers at this point. Which brings us to the milestone.
The American Nightmare has reached 75 days as Undisputed WWE Champion. He defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL to finally win the belt for the first time in his career. Since then he has retained it against the likes of AJ Styles and United States Champion Logan Paul.
Being the successor to The Tribal Chief's reign—which most fans unanimously agree was the best of the business in this century—Cody Rhodes seems to be doing fine. His potential next challengers on the blue brand include Randy Orton and Solo Sikoa, among others.
WWE is reportedly planning Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa for SummerSlam
A report by Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Dave Meltzer states that Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa is WWE's plan for this year's SummerSlam main event.
This came off as a major surprise to so many as Randy Orton was expected to be the one in Sikoa's place. The Legend Killer seemingly has been dropping hints that he has the Undisputed WWE Title in mind. In Glasgow last weekend, fans were quick to point out that he was eyeing Cody's belt after saving the latter from a beatdown at the hands of The Bloodline.
Nevertheless, Solo Sikoa challenging The American Nightmare is a logical step by the creative team. Netizens are convinced that SummerSlam will be the place where Roman Reigns returns to set things right.
He was last seen on the grand stage, after which Sikoa dominated SmackDown as the new "Tribal Chief" and bringing in Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa. Immediately following The Showcase of Immortals, The Enforcer had booted out Jimmy Uso from the faction. Presently, he is the sole member of the Anoa'i family remaining in The Bloodline.
