Cody Rhodes chooses 40-year-old babyface as his next WWE Championship opponent on SmackDown
Cody Rhodes walked into the post-SmackDown SummerSlam knowing well who his opponent for the Undisputed WWE Championship would be. This time, he handpicked one of his allies as his adversary.
Tonight on SmackDown, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa, with Jacob Fatu notably absent, confronted Cody Rhodes. Solo demanded a rematch but The American Nightmare brushed him off. Kevin Owens appeared with a steel chair to prevent another ambush attack - and it succeeded. As the 40-year-old babyface was leaving the ring, Rhodes stopped him.
The Undisputed WWE Champion told Owens that he wanted to face him at Bash in Berlin. KO initially rejected this owing to a bad win-loss record this year. He believed that he had done nothing to earn it. The crowd in Tulsa, Oklahoma started chanting, "You deserve it," and Cody Rhodes concurred with the sentiment, stating that he was going to go backstage and talk to Nick Aldis about making the match official.
WWE heads to Germany in three weeks from now and things are already shaping up to be an exciting premium live event.
Solo meanwhile told The American Nightmare that he would come back for him after he had found Roman Reigns.
It looks like there's a lot of unfinished business on SmackDown tonight.
