Cody Rhodes credits veteran wrestler for making a popular move mainstream

WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes is among the most beloved babyfaces on the current roster. The American Nightmare recently praised a popular wrestling star, crediting the latter for making The Canadian Destroyer mainstream.

The veteran in question is Petey Williams. The 42-year-old has won multiple championships while wrestling for several promotions over the years. He signed with the global juggernaut in 2022 as a producer.

While competing inside the squared circle, Petey Williams used to finish off his opponents with the Canadian Destroyer. Cody Rhodes recently took to Instagram Stories to credit the Canadian pro wrestler for making the move mainstream. However, the Undisputed WWE Champion also clarified that Williams did not invent the move.

"Shoutout to lonely @ipeteywilliams Dude brought the Destroyer mainstream (didn't invent it relax) and partially to blame for it being in like every match. Trendsetter. Also, good producer," he wrote.

Wrestling veteran makes a bold claim regarding Cody Rhodes' upcoming WWE match

The American Nightmare will face Gunther at WWE Crown Jewel in a Champion vs Champion match. The two popular superstars will compete for the recently unveiled Crown Jewel Championship at the premium live event scheduled for November 2.

On his ARN podcast via The Four Horsemen Network, Arn Anderson stated that Rhodes needs challenges and tests. The WWE Hall of Famer believes that although the latter is confident in his abilities, his match against The Ring General would be different, stating it would not be pretty and slick.

Anderson implied Cody Rhodes would have to toil hard when he comes up against The Ring General inside the squared circle.

"Cody [Rhodes] needs challenges. He needs tests. He needs to be able to go beyond what he even believes he's able to, and I know he bets on himself, and he's confident in his abilities. But when you have a guy like that, that's gonna be a different kind of match. It's not gonna be pretty, it's not gonna be slick. Gonna have to stand in there and bang on that, so look forward to it," he said. [From 2:27 to 2:58]

After the premium live event, Cody Rhodes is expected to turn his attention toward Kevin Owens as the latter attacked him following WWE Bad Blood. On the other hand, Gunther, having beaten Sami Zayn on the RAW following Bad Blood, is most likely to face a new challenger.
