Cody Rhodes to be dethroned after 6 ft 5 in WWE star turns heel, believes analyst; but there's a twist
Cody Rhodes finally finished his story on Night Two of WrestleMania XL when he defeated Roman Reigns for the gold. While The American Nightmare has enjoyed a fruitful run since, wrestling personality Sam Roberts believes it could come to a screeching halt after WWE legend Randy Orton's potential heel turn.
Rhodes and Orton, along with Kevin Owens, are currently involved in a feud with The Bloodline on SmackDown. The trio are set to take on some version of Solo Sikoa's faction at the upcoming Money in the Bank Premium Live Event in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Speaking on the latest edition of the Notsam Wrestling Podcast, Roberts said that while Randy Orton is a babyface now, he will eventually turn heel, most likely by the time Survivor Series rolls around. He added that Orton facing Rhodes for the world title at the event could be one of the possible scenarios.
"Randy [Orton] is going to eventually show his true colours. This is why when we get to WarGames I don't see Randy and Cody [Rhodes] being on the babyface team because by the time we get to Survivor Series I think you are looking at Randy vs. Cody," said Sam Roberts. [From 38:43 to 38:55]
Roberts even put forward the idea of The Viper having an Undisputed WWE Championship run by defeating Rhodes, albeit for "a short period of time," before dropping the title back to The American Nightmare.
"I think the idea of...maybe even Randy beating Cody Rhodes. Taking the title and then he can always switch it back to Cody Rhodes, you know, in a short period of time. But either way, Randy Orton becomes a challenger to Cody that we can believe in," he added. [From 40:18 to 40:35]
Cody Rhodes tipped to face major Bloodline member at WWE SummerSlam 2024
Speaking on the same edition of the Notsam Wrestling Podcast, Sam Roberts felt that Cody Rhodes is likely to face either Solo Sikoa or Jacob Fatu at The Biggest Party of the Summer this year.
He was also of the opinion that Fatu could get the nod over Sikoa for his first major singles match on the WWE main roster.
"I think that at SummerSlam, you'll get Cody Rhodes against either Solo Sikoa or Jacob Fatu. Jacob Fatu could be the guy who faces Cody at SummerSlam certainly," said Sam Roberts. [From 24:52 to 25:10]
It will be interesting to see what is in store for Rhodes in 2024, with multiple stars emerging as potential challengers for his Undisputed WWE Championship.
