Cody Rhodes facing 249 lb WWE star and not Randy Orton at SummerSlam would be "boring," says veteran

While many expect Randy Orton to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam, wrestling veteran Matt Morgan believes it is "too quick" to have the two former Legacy members clash. However, Morgan also claimed that a 249-pound SmackDown Superstar challenging The American Nightmare instead of The Viper would result in a "boring" match.

The star in question is Solo Sikoa. The Bloodline attacked Rhodes following the latter's victory over AJ Styles at Clash at the Castle. Last night on SmackDown, Sikoa and Rhodes went head-to-head in the main event, which ended in the latter's victory via disqualification.

During a recent episode of the Gigantic Pop podcast, Matt Morgan addressed the possibility of the 31-year-old facing the Undisputed WWE Champion at SummerSlam.

The TNA legend said it would be good for Rhodes to fight Sikoa instead of Orton at SummerSlam, claiming it is "too quick" to go to The Viper. However, he pointed out that The American Nightmare versus the current leader of The Bloodline would be "boring as hell!"

"Good, because it's too quick to go to Randy. Way too quick. We gotta start developing those, him staring at the title belt like he did the other night as they went off the air when he's staring at that belt. Little nuances like that to really layer up the storyline. The storyline's already built. The foundation's already been built. We need to see what's the trigger that sets it off. And I'd like for them to space it out. But by the same token, the match with Solo is gonna be boring as hell, no offense," he said. [37:10 - 37:40]

Will Cody Rhodes lose his Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam?

The American Nightmare finished his story and captured the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship after defeating Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL. Since then, the 38-year-old has defended his title against AJ Styles (twice) and Logan Paul. However, former RAW Talk host Matt Camp has claimed that Cody Rhodes could drop the title at SummerSlam.

During a recent episode of his The Wrestling Matt podcast, Camp suggested Rhodes could lose his title to Randy Orton at The Biggest Party of The Summer before regaining it at Survivor Series.

"To me, Randy would be his first legitimate challenge to that championship. Didn't think AJ was winning either match. Didn't think Logan Paul was winning either match. Nobody else did either. But Randy Orton, super heel Randy Orton, at SummerSlam against Cody Rhodes, it's very believable to see Randy walk out with the WWE Championship on that night, not to say he would keep it forever, not to say he would even keep it for a long time. Cody would get that title back, maybe by Survivor Series. That's okay to have him chase a little bit," he said.

Wrestling veteran Matthew Rehwoldt (FKA Aiden English) also believes Randy Orton versus Cody Rhodes will 100% happen at SummerSlam. It will be interesting to see if the former Legacy members square off at The Biggest Party of The Summer.
