Cody Rhodes fires first shot at Gunther; has to be rescued by 14-time World Champion
Cody Rhodes just fired the first shot at Gunther on WWE SmackDown. However, his plan backfired, and he had to be rescued by 14-time World Champion Randy Orton.
Randy Orton got himself involved in Cody's segment with Gunther. At WWE Bad Blood, Triple H announced that the Undisputed WWE Champion and the World Heavyweight Champion would face each other at Crown Jewel to determine the first-ever Crown Jewel Champion.
This put Cody Rhodes and Gunther in each other's crosshairs, as they both want to prove that they are the top champions in the company. These two men have come face-to-face before, and last week on SmackDown, Cody invited the Ring General to the blue brand for another face-to-face.
During the segment, both discussed why they believed they would walk out of Crown Jewel as the winners. The Ring General even called Cody "a gutless champion. " The latter said that Gunther is a Ring General, but he leads no one.
It was clear that the Ring General got under the skin of Cody as the latter hit him. This caused Ludwig Kaiser to come out, and they both ambushed the American Nightmare. Randy Orton then came running down to the ring to make the save, causing the Ring General and Kaiser to run away.
It looks like this rivalry between Cody Rhodes and Gunther has gotten more personal.
